Concert #1 : « The Flight of the Crane » (by guest teachers of the Summer School)
The crane, the revered and iconic bird of Japan, has inspired many masterpieces of shakuhachi repertoire. Each school performs their own version of Tsuru no Sugomori or Sōkaku Reibo (Nesting cranes), which are sometimes musically very different from each other. Being the overarching theme of this Summer School, you will be able to hear several versions during this concert, punctuated by the koto, the thirteen strings japanese zither.
